Competency-based training is important because it identifies the essential skills, knowledge, and abilities needed by responders in any emergency. The Emergency Preparedness Competency Database contains up-to-date information on emergency preparedness core competencies for local public health.

Course developers can search the database by target audience, topic, and training level, and can view a current listing of emergency preparedness trainings that have been developed in Massachusetts. Use this database to help you incorporate emergency preparedness competencies into your training, and to identify training needs that have not been met.
